System Generator Board Support Blocksets for XRC Series Cards

System Generator from Xilinx, is a powerful tool for building DSP systems for Platform FPGAs, using the high level interface of The MathWorks' Simulink. This development environment allows a number of powerful verification steps including co-simulation of the Simulink Blockset model with ModelSim and with hardware. Alpha Data supports this development environment with a Hardware Co-simulation library. This library allows an XRC series card with a Virtex-II, Virtex-II-Pro, Virtex-4 or Virtex-5 FPGA to be used as a cosimulation target, thus speeding up development and verification of DSP systems.


The complete DSP solution contains much more than the FPGA at its heart. Supporting data input and output from the real world are essential. On board features such as additional memory are also extremely useful in building a DSP system. The system may require a PC host, to allow easy control of the application, as well as for data recording and many other backgorund tasks.


Alpha Data provide a second library to help build such systems. The XRC board application library builds on the System Generator development environment to provide a powerful tool for building DSP systems on the Alpha Data XRC and XRC-II platforms. Enhancing the features of System Generator, the Board Applications Library provides design templates for integrating DSP algorithms into XRC series cards. The Board Application Library provides full support for the on-board SRAM and PCI interface, and allows very flexible configuration of the front and read I/O ports.
